DONATE BLOOD – Save a Life Campaign (An MRI Initiative)
On Friday the 26th of January 2007, MRI will kick start an initiative geared towards heeding to the plea by the Botswana National Blood Transfusion Service calling to the nation to donate blood.
This event, targeted to coincide with the company’s Annual General Meeting will bring together MRI staff, Board of Directors, Shareholders and Business Partners and other stake holders who on the day will be challenged to donate blood and commit to becoming “donors”.
As an Emergency Medical Company, blood shortage intimately affects our core operations. Just like all emergencies, lack of safe blood, could mean the difference between life and death, not only for trauma victims from motor vehicle accidents, work related accidents, but also pregnant mothers, newly born babies, people with long term illnesses such as cancer victims and HIV/AIDS.
As statistics indicate only 1% of people in Botswana donate blood annually whist over 80% may need blood at some time. Our intention is to build a long term relationship with the National Blood Unit and be part of their efforts and challenge our business and community partners to join us in cultivating in the nation a culture of blood donation.
The event is scheduled to commence at midday until 16:00 hours at MRI offices. MRI Shareholders, Business Partners, Members of the press and other prospective donors are urged to participate in this LIFE SAVING event.
