Gaborone-Emergency medical service providers have been urged to provide appropriate service and ensure compliance with professional standards so that clients get professional service of Medical Rescue,Mr.RockieMmutle during the stakeholder’s seminar and signing of the memorandum of agreement with emergency medical service providers.
According to MrMmutle emergency medical service providers intend to provide professional to all Batswana and also want their service wide because non professionals assisting patient during accidents can worsen the condition of the patient.
He also said they want to ensure that certain standards are met in Botswana which is the reason they decided to get into a six Motor Vehicle Accident fund (MVA).
While the Chief Executive Officer (MVA), Mr Cross Kgosisidiile informed the seminar that their mission is to enhance the quality of life by promoting road safety as well as compensating, rehabilitating and supporting those affected by road crashes.
Mr Kgosidiile stated that the highlight of the agreement will ensure that the emergency provides an emergency medical assistance on 24 hours basis and there will be provision of pre-hospital medical care.
He added that they will ensure that there is care for injured persons from the time the accident happens and they will also improve chance of survival and mitigation of injuries though the golden hour role. He said the parties have agreed on an initial six months period to pilot the service as well as to ensure early return to work and stay at work post accident to achieve effective medical care and rehabilitation of those affected by the road crashes.
Despite that, Mr Kgosidiile said there are challenges such as the high cost of providing medical care, limited medical rehabilitation facilities, absence of well defined case management processes and the absence of service level agreements with other stakeholders. BOPA
