The medical call centre is manned 24 hours every day of the year by experienced nurses. When an emergency call comes through, it is immediately attended to by the nurses who will interview the caller to establish what may be going on and will give advice accordingly. Sometimes the nurse might ask the caller to perform certain interventions while awaiting the ambulance to arrive.
When at home, you may feel unwell or unsure about some of the symptoms you may be experiencing. You may not know whether you need to see a health practitioner immediately or whether to wait. The 24hour line through the nurses, offer a medical advice service on such matters. The nurses are backed up by a team of resident medical doctors who are available 24 hours for medical advice.
The medical advice is given through the emergency line.
