MRI Onsite provides an ambulance which is manned by MRI medics. This includes the rapid response to the incident site, incident scene management (in liaison with the SHE representative), triage and initial management of any victims, extrication coordination, stabilisation on-scene, appropriate packaging and transport to an appropriate health facility.

An ambulance, supplied by MRI Botswana Ltd., equipped to an Advanced Life Support level, is based at the project site and responds to calls for assistance. This ambulance may also be used for the transportation of patients to a local health facility.

In the case of a project staff member suffering an injury or illness that cannot be appropriately managed by local health resources, MRI conducts aeromedical or ground evacuation of the victim to an appropriate medical facility, normally Gaborone or Johannesburg/Pretoria. Our 24 hour medical call centre, staffed by emergency dispatchers and nurses, is able to coordinate evacuations, and arrange for admission to an appropriate medical facility that can manage the medical condition of the patient. Members of all medical aids are covered for evacuations within the country and to South Africa. The details of the authorising persons on site will be in the Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
